Questions
Questions about a head spa
Do I need a scalp check before my first session?
No. A scalp check is part of every session, so you can book a session straight away. The 20-minute check on its own is for clients who want a look first.
How long should my first session be?
Ninety minutes gives each step its time, and it is where we suggest new clients start. If you're unsure, the 60-minute hour is a gentler first visit.
Do I have to undress?
No. You stay dressed under a cape and towel, or you can change into a robe. Only your hair and scalp are worked on.
Will my hair get wet?
Yes, at the basin, for the cleanse and the rinse. The seated scalp massage is the one session with no water.
Can I come with locs, twists or braids?
Yes. Tell us what you're wearing and how long you want to keep it. Azaria plans the cleanse, the rinse and the dry around the style.
What if I have a scalp condition?
Ask your doctor first, and tell us when you book. We can follow what they say. We don't diagnose or treat conditions.
Can I fall asleep?
Many clients do. The rooms are quiet and the lights are low, and we wake you gently for the rinse.
How does the series work?
A series is three visits two weeks apart, or six a month apart, booked together at your first visit. Each plan lists its terms, its notice and what happens if you stop.
Can two of us book together?
The two-chair room has a sheer curtain between the chairs. Book two sessions at the same time and ask for it.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, at the desk and online, for any session length.
Where do I park?
Metered street parking on Lemoine Avenue and a public garage on Main Street are a short walk from the door.
