Your first visit

Four steps, from booking to the dry.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Book your visit

Book a 90-minute session or the 20-minute scalp check online, or call us. Tell us if you'd like a particular therapist, or the quietest room.

  2. 02

    Step 2: What to bring

Nothing but yourself. Tell us about any scalp condition, allergy or medicine, and anything a doctor has said about your head or neck.

    • Any scalp or skin conditions

    • Allergies to oils, scents or hair products

    • A hair tie, if you'll want your hair up afterward

  3. 03

    Step 3: When you arrive

Come ten minutes early to check in and change into a robe if you like. Metered street parking on Lemoine Avenue and a garage on Main Street are a short walk away.

  4. 04

    Step 4: What to expect

Your therapist starts with the scalp check, then the cleanse, the massage, the rinse and the dry. They ask about pressure at the start and again halfway, and stop whenever you say.

When you arrive

A front desk, a table of tulips and a quiet hall

Check in, and we take you through.

The desk is at the front, and the rooms are behind a door. You can leave your coat and bag at the desk, and a robe is waiting if you want one.

  • Arrive ten minutes early

  • A robe and a locker for your bag

  • Tea, if you'd like it afterward

A reception area with a round table, a vase of tulips and an empty front desk

Before you book

Who should ask a doctor first

A head spa is a cleanse and a massage, not a treatment. If any of these is true for you, ask your doctor before you book, and tell us when you do.

  • An open cut, sore or rash on your scalp

We don't massage over broken skin. Wait until it has healed, or until your doctor says it is fine.

  • A scalp condition under a doctor's care

Ask whether massage, warm water and steam suit it. We follow what your doctor tells you.

  • Recent surgery on your head, neck or back

Lying back at the basin and a firm neck massage may not suit you yet.

  • Neck, spine or blood pressure concerns

The chair is reclined and the steam is warm. Both are worth asking about.

  • Pregnancy

Many people book while pregnant. Ask your doctor first, and we will adjust the chair and the steam.

  • Allergies to oils, scents or hair products

Tell us when you book. We can use plain warm water and an unscented cleanse.
